Hayley started from a background of athletics and cross country running, competing for English Schools and at County level. She made the swap at the age of fourteen to become a cyclist. Hayley is currently riding for the British Cycling elite team, Starley Primal Pro Cycling Team. She is a full time athlete from Shrewsbury Shropshire. Hayley rode for MG-Maxifuel Pro Cycling Team in 2013 and was then scouted and selected to ride for Starley Primal Pro Cycling Team for 2014.
My dream is to ride for an UCI (International Cycling Union) women’s professional cycling team and to represent my country in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Hayley has now been racing at National and International level for five years. She is a very determined athlete who has a true passion for the sport, and has had a great deal of success for someone who is just 22 years old.
Hayley told us some of her goals for the future:
My goals are focused through continual development, improvement and progression, undergoing regular training tests in every finest detail. Results are measured through endurance, power and times, to ensure I’m at my full potential to achieve British National and International titles. Every minor aspect of my performances are stepping stones to achieve my short term goals. These short term goals are focused towards my dream in becoming a Top Professional Cyclist, to be scouted to ride a for a UCI Professional women's cycling team abroad, in which will give me a wider range of experience competing against different nationalities. And I’m driven to work incredibly hard to turn my dream into a reality!
Long Term... I would like to have a long and successful career within my sport. In the process of becoming a world class name, following in the footsteps of role models who I’m currently competing against such as, double Olympic Gold Medallist Laura Trott and Olympic Silver medallist Lizzie Armistead, challenging their records and achievements along the way.
