Physiological Benefits of Negative Ions on the Human Body

on Friday, 18 January 2013. Posted in Health & Wellbeing

For years researchers have advised consuming more alkaline foods,( i.e. vegetables and some fruits with a higher pH) is beneficial to your health. If you have an acidic pH, (i.e. lower pH) balance of the body, on the other hand, it is likely that you`ll feel weak and susceptible to sickness. What is the cause of Acidosis of the blood? Essentially it comes as a result of the loss of electrons. It can be prevented by an influx of negative electric Ions which contain an abundant amount of electrons needed to improve the body's immunity and resistance to illnesses. Acidosis of the blood is the reason negative electric Ions products are becoming a more regular part of the consumer’s regimen toward better health.

Metabolism, which is the process of acquiring nutrients from the blood and excreting waste out of the body, is extremely important to the human cells. The more Negatively Charged Electric Ions there are in the blood, the more efficient the cell's metabolic processes.

On the contrary, the more Positively Charged Ions,( i.e. free radicals) there are in the blood, the slower and less efficient the cell's metabolism. This causes the body's cells to become weak and the body will tend to get sick more easily and age faster. It will cause the body`s immune system to completely shut down.

The key then is to encourage the production of Negative Electric Ions and the reduction of Positively Charged Ions. Researchers experiment on electric ions and the permeability of the cell membrane. In the experiment, skin was used to exemplify the cell membrane. When positively charged ions were permeated into the surface of the skin, its pores and sweat glands began to contract. However, when Negative Electric Ions were permeated into the surface of the skin, its pores and sweat glands expanded, which demonstrates good metabolism of the cell membranes. This phenomenon is called Prototype Plasma Membranes of Dermal Reflectivity. European scientists also conducted research regarding the influence of ions to the human body. They proposed the following hypothesis - Negatively Charged Ions are beneficial to the human body in four major ways; 1.It helps to strengthen the functions of autonomic nerves 2. reinforces collagen (tissues that are resilient and tension-related 3. improves the permeability of the cell's prototype plasma membranes (improves metabolism), and 4. strengthens the body's immune system.

The human body is surrounded by ions; therefore, the function of electrons inside and outside the cells has significant influence on the human body. It makes the body strong if good ions are taken. When the amount of Negative Electric Ions contained one cc of air inhaled reached 5,000 to 50,000, it strengthens the body's resistance and immunity; and when the amount of Negative Electric Ions contained in one D.C. of air reached 100,000 to 500,000, it relieves illnesses. Negatively Charged Electric Ions in our body are essential in sustaining and improving our health. Whereas 85% of the Negative Electric Ions are absorbed from our skin, only 15% is inhaled and absorbed through our lungs. (quoted from page 56 of Negatively Charged electric Ion Treatment, issued by Youth Publishing)

Negative ions are beneficial to human body in four major ways:
Reprinted from "Economy Daily News" - January 30, 2002

•    Strengthen the functions of autonomic nerves
•    Reinforces collagen (tissues that are resilient and tension-related)
•    Improves the permeability of the cell's prototype plasma membranes (improves metabolism)
•    Strengthens the body's immune system

(Note: Mitochondria can be called the "powerhouse" of the cell. Most living organisms use food and oxygen to make ATP/energy in a process called cellular respiration. Most of cellular respiration takes place inside the mitochondria)

Negative ion regeneration for youthfulness and longevity
by John Heinerman, Ph.D.

Negative ions neutralize pollutants and provide positive effects on health to
•    Stimulate the reticulo-endothelial system, a group of defense cells in our bodies that marshal our resistance to disease
•    Act on our capacity to absorb and utilize oxygen. Negative ions in the bloodstream accelerate the delivery of oxygen to our cells and tissues
•    Speed up oxidation of serotonin (5-hydroxtryptamine) in the blood. This is well known to have far reaching effects on mood, pain relief and sexual drive.

How Negative Ions Affect the Human Body?

Dr. Robert O. Becker, pioneering researcher and author of the book, The Body Electric and Cross Currents, has established that energy system within our bodies consists of two forces, magnetism and electricity, with the electricity component consisting of low-frequency direct-current (DC) electric field. This electromagnetic energy system is affected by the earth's natural electromagnetic environment, which is normally relatively quiet, with minor rhythmic variations, but which experiences great increase in an electromagnetic charged environment.

Numerous studies have established the effect of Negative Charged Ion environment on the human body. The negative charged environment has stimulated the body's own healing mechanism in the case of stress and specific physical problems.

Increase blood flow with resultant increased oxygen-carrying capacity, both of which are basic to help the body healing itself;

Changes in migration of calcium ions which can either bring calcium ions to heal a broken bone in half the usual time, or can help move calcium away from painful, arthritic joints;

The pH balance (acid/alkaline) of various body fluids. (Often out of balance in conjunction with illness or abnormal conditions)

Hormone production from the endocrine glands can be either increased or decreased by Negative Ion stimulation;

Altering of enzyme activity and other bio-chemical processes.

Studies Proving Effectiveness of Negative Ions:

U.S. Dept. of Agriculture

A recent study by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture found that ionizing a room led to 52% less dust in the air, and 95% less bacteria in the air (since many of the pollutants found in the air reside on floating dust particles).
The USDA also performed another study to test the effectiveness of negative ionization at removing airborne Salmonella Enteritidis. The negative ions drastically reduced the airborne salmonella particles, prompting the following statement from the USDA:
"These results indicate that negative air ionization can have a significant impact on the airborne microbial load in a poultry house and at least a portion of this effect is through direct killing of the organisms."

Agriculture Research Service (of USDA)

The Agriculture Research Service of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture tested the effectiveness of ionizers for removing dust in a poultry hatchery. The dust level is very high in such an environment. In this study, the use of an ionizer resulted in dust removal efficiencies that averaged between 81.1 ~ 92.2%. The airborne transmission of salmonella (to the eggs) was also significantly reduced as a result. (Summary of Study: http://www.nalusda.gov/ttic/tektran/data/000008/54/0000085456.html

Journal of Hygiene

Scientists showed that ionization reduced bacterial levels in burns and plastic surgery units by over 96% after a two-week period, which results in much better and more rapid healing of patients.

Journal of Applied Microbiology

The use of negative ions was even found by scientists to reduce the presence of airborne viruses by about 40%. A study featured in the 1987 issue also showed the negative ions are free from any adverse side effects.

Science

A 1976 study featured in this publication provided evidence that negative ions can have a biologically lethal effect on airborne microorganisms.

Journal of Hygiene

A 1979 study found that using negative ionization in the air protected chickens from airborne infection of the deadly Newcastle Disease Virus.

Journal of Food Protection

A 2001 study found that airborne negative ionization was highly effective at destroying airborne and surface salmonella.

University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Romania)

A test on male rats showed that just moderate levels of negative ions increased the resistance of the rats, reducing or eliminating the effect of some chemicals. (Summary of study:http://www.fjokk.hu/cejoem/files/Volume4/Vol4No1/Ce981-08.HTM

Effect of Negative Ions on Drivers

A study by Toyota Central R & D Labs, Inc. found that negative ions can improve fatigue and cognition of drivers. (Copy of study - PDF File http://www.tytlabs.co.jp/office/elibrary/preview/erev371pdf/e371_065sakakibara.pdf)

Other Negative Ion Benefits

Asthma, Allergies, and other Respiratory Problems and Illnesses. Many scientific studies have been conducted over the years (mostly in Europe and Russia) showing how exposure to high levels of negative ions drastically or significantly reduce asthma and allergy symptoms, as well as respiratory-related illness.

Studies have also shown a link between negative ion treatment and benefits for the following:

Migraine Headaches: Inhaling negative ions regulates the production of serotonin inside the brain. The overproduction of serotonin inside the brain is the cause of migraine headaches.
Depression: A study at Columbia University suggested that negative ion treatment is more effective than anti-depressant drugs such as Prozac and Zolof, and there are no side effects with negative ions.
Fatigue: The overproduction of serotonin (chemical produced inside the brain) also causes fatigue, and negative ions regulate the production of serotonin inside the brain.
Sleep: A study in France found that negative ionizers helped people to sleep better, by regulating the production of the chemical serotonin in the brain.
Mental Performance and Concentration: Several tests have shown people exposed to negative ion treatment perform much better in mentally-oriented activities than those who are not.
Physical Performance: Due to test results performed by Russian scientists, negative ionizers were always installed in the locker rooms and resting places for the Russian athletes.
Burns: Studies performed in one hospital found that burn patients were far more likely to recover more quickly and thoroughly.

Negative Ions for Alternative Ideals in Health, Science, and Medicine
The article in Alternative Ideas in Health, Science, and Spirituality (http://www.sumeria.net/health/ions.html) concluded that
1.    Negative ions ACCELERATE the oxidative degradation of serotonin whereas Positive ions have the opposite action and inactive the enzymes which break down serotonin.
2.    An INCREASE in the serotonin level (5-hydroxytryptamine) produces:
o    tachycardia,
o    a rise in blood pressure,
o    bronciospasam going as far as asthma attack,
o    increased intestinal peristalsis (contractions and dilations of the intestines to move the contents onwards),
o    increased sensitivity to pain,
o    increased aggression.
3.    A DECREASE in the serotonin level is calming and increasing defenses against infections (as proven with influenza 'the flu').
4.    Negative ions produce an INCREASE in hemoglobin/oxygen affinity so that the partial oxygen pressure in the blood rises but the partial carbon dioxide pressure decreases.

This results in reducing respiratory rate and enhancing the metabolism of water-soluble vitamins.
In addition, negative ions produce an INCREASE in PH and, in particular, an INCREASE in the secretory performance of the mucosa with an INCREASE in cilliary movement in the airways.

Tourmaline - The Electric Stone

Black TourmalineTourmaline is a naturally occurring mineral widely used as a semi-precious gemstone, and it has unique electric properties responsible for many beneficial health effects.

Tourmaline is known to generate a weak electric current, producing far infrared rays and converting moisture in the air to negative ions. Unlike mechanically produced negative ions, those generated by tourmaline are completely natural and safe and have no negative side effects. In fact, many of the beneficial effects of tourmaline are thought to be brought about by the negative ions it emits.

Tourmaline can be black, transparent or any translucent shade of red, pink, purple, yellow, green, blue, brown or amber. It can also appear as a lovely combination of any of these colors. Tourmaline gems were beloved by rulers such as Catherine the Great of Russia and Empress Dowager Tz'u Hsi, the last Empress of China.

Ionic Balance Bracelets contain black tourmaline, believed by holistic practitioners to emit the most powerful healing energy of all tourmaline gems. Click here to read more about how black tourmaline is used in holistic healing.

Positive Effects of Tourmaline

Mineralizes Water - Tourmaline is thought to be effective in removing the foul odor from drinking water by altering the bad-smelling component of chlorine.

Alkalinizes Water and Body Fluids - Tourmaline can also make water slightly alkaline. Because tropical fish favor such an environment, it is beneficial for them to have their fish tanks lined with tourmaline. Worn directly on the body, tourmaline also adjusts body fluids to a slightly alkaline pH, which is optimal for health.

Suppresses Electromagnetic Fields - In recent years, tourmaline has been closely investigated for its potential to counteract the effects of electromagnetic fields, which are thought to be harmful. Researchers suspect that the weak electric current generated by tourmaline suppresses electromagnetic fields in the immediate environment.

Fights Bacteria and Maintains Freshness - Tourmaline has been shown to have antibacterial and deodorizing effects when placed in refrigerators and cars. In addition, tourmaline prevents foul smells from being absorbed into a variety of materials.

Surfactant Properties - Because of its surfactant (detergent) properties, tourmaline enhances cleaning effectiveness and prevents dirt adhesion.

Health Effects - Worn on the body, tourmaline is thought to prevent cholesterol coagulation and build-up in blood vessels. Cells throughout the body are invigorated and immune function is enhanced by tourmaline. It is also thought to purify the blood, stimulate the autonomic nervous system, calm overexcited sympathetic nerves, and promote sound sleep.

Generates Negative Ions & Far Infrared Rays - The tourmaline granules in Ionic Balance Bands can be effective in treating neck stiffness and other conditions, because the weak electric current and far infrared rays that they generate improve circulation. In addition, tourmaline's electrolytic properties cause it to emit negative ions, which are thought to have multiple healing effects on the mind and body.

These many beneficial properties make tourmaline (especially black tourmaline) one of the most amazing minerals on the planet.

Discovery of a Weak Electric Current in Tourmaline

Scientists have long been intrigued by the unique electrical and magnetic properties of tourmaline. Benjamin Franklin, the inventor of the lightning rod, possessed at least one tourmaline stone and is said to have used it in his experiments. In 1880, Pierre Curie, co-recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics (with his wife, the famous Marie Curie), discovered with his brother Jacques, a mineralogist, that tourmaline carries a weak electric charge when it is heated (pyroelectricity) or when pressure is applied to its surface (piezoelectricity). Later, research in Japan confirmed that tourmaline carries a faint but constant electric charge of 0.06mA, which is why tourmaline continues to be known as "the electric stone," especially in Asia. Japanese researchers also found that no matter how small tourmaline is ground or crushed, it is still capable of conveying an electric current. This helps explain the effectiveness of the tourmaline powder in Ionic Balance products.

Unlimited Solar Energy Is the Source of Tourmaline's Power!

The electric current that courses through tourmaline is actually a flow of electrons originating in the sun. The sun bathes the earth in a continuous stream of negatively charged electrons, which enter the positively charged side of the tourmaline material and exit from the oppositely charged side. With this current flowing through it at all times, tourmaline is like a battery with unlimited life, one that never runs out!

Workers in Tourmaline Mines Experience Fewer Illnesses

The first tourmaline, discovered in 1703 in Sri Lanka, was transparent. Hence, the gemstone was first used as imitation diamond. However, gradually it became clear that tourmaline possessed some amazing qualities of its own. For instance, it was observed that tourmaline crystal warmed by sunlight demonstrated the mysterious ability to attract and repulse lightweight objects (illustrating the gem's pyroelectric properties). Moreover, although bronchial ailments are generally common among miners, workers in Brazilian tourmaline mines were found to suffer fewer such illnesses.

The Power of Black Tourmaline in Holistic Healing

In holistic healing, tourmaline is known for a variety of healing properties (such as enhancing mental alertness, increasing self-confidence, and strengthening one's psychic energy), with the particular use depending on the color of the gem. Black tourmaline has been used since ancient times to deflect negative energy. It is linked to the root chakra and spiritual grounding in energetic healing and is used for treating anxiety, nervous disorders, kidney and adrenal problems, and heart disease. Black tourmaline is also thought to boost immune function and shield the body from the effects of radiation.

Health Benefits of Far Infrared Rays

Health Benefits of Far Infrared Rays

The sun emits many kinds of natural light, only some of which are visible. Infrared light has a longer wavelength than the visible spectrum and thus cannot be seen by the naked eye.

Far infrared rays (FIR) have the longest wavelength of any kind of infrared light, and thus are the only kind of infrared light that can deeply penetrate the human body. When emitted by the sun or our Ionic Balance Bracelets, FIR penetrates through the skin to the subcutaneous tissues and is transformed from light energy into heat energy, bringing about many beneficial effects:

  • Promotion of blood circulation and warming of the body, which helps relieve neuralgia (nerve pain), muscle aches and joint pain, as well as remedying cold hands and feet
  • Revitalization of cells, which promotes wound healing and helps restore tissue damaged by inflammation
  • Increased metabolism
  • Relief from stress and fatigue
  • Regulation of the nervous system
  • Promotion of sound sleep
  • Purification of bodily fluids and elimination of harmful toxins
  • Strengthening of immune function
  • Promotion of healthy growth and development in human beings and animals

At its normal core temperature, the human body emits heat energy at a wavelength of 5-15 microns. A FIR energy wave of similar length is emitted when natural stone - such as tourmaline or zeolite - is heated. Some studies have shown that FIR energy emitted from stone can penetrate organic matter 80 times deeper than other heat waves.

The heat from FIR resonates with the body's own energy waves to warm the body, improve blood circulation, and boost metabolism. FIR energizes the body at the cellular level. For this reason, many hospitals and clinics in Japan treat patients with medical devices that generate FIR. In addition to their positive effects on circulation and metabolism, far infrared rays also improve the function of the autonomic nervous and endocrine (hormone) systems, resulting in a better state of health.

Tourmaline Generates Alpha Waves

Tourmaline Generates Alpha Waves

Brain Waves

The human brain generates several types of energy waves which pulsate at different speeds. Alpha brain waves are slow, and scientific research has proven that when people are in the “alpha state”, they receive more oxygen return to the brain, allowing them to rest or sleep more peacefully and deeply.
German and Japanese scientists have discovered that Tourmaline can radiate an energy of 8-13Hz per second, which matches exactly to the alpha wave frequency in the human brain. When exposed to this wave frequency, the brain can more quickly enter the alpha state, thereby bringing about a calm and peaceful sleep.

Studies have shown that the alpha state has many therapeutic effects on our health, including:

  • Brain strengthening and an increase in intellect
  • Improvement in mental clarity and focus
  • Help with falling asleep
  • Delay of the aging process
  • Improvement in the body’s ability to heal itself
  • What are Alpha Brain Waves?

Alpha Brain Waves are one of four basic brain waves [Delta Waves, Theta Waves,Alpha Waves, and Beta Waves] which make up the EEG, which is short forelectroencephalogram and also electroencephalograph. The electroencephalograph is the recording device that produces the electroencephalogram. These 4 brain wavesare all oscillating electrical voltages in the brain, but they are very tiny voltages, just a few millionths of a volt. The Alpha brain waves oscillate about 10 times per second, and the range is 8-13 cycles per second. The brain waves called "Alpha" were the first to be discovered (around 1908, by an Austrian Psychiatrist named Hans Berger). That is why they are called "Alpha waves". Alpha brain waves were discovered first, andAlpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet, like our "a".
Many hundreds of scientists have spent a lot of time studying these basic brain wavesof the EEG, so there is a lot of basic knowledge about what Alpha brain waves are and what makes them appear and disappear in our brains. Yes, they appear and disappear.Alpha brain waves are not always present. For example, in deep sleep there are noAlpha brain waves, and if someone is very highly aroused as in fear or anger, again there are virtually no Alpha brain waves. Delta brain waves are seen only in thedeepest stages of sleep (Stages 3 and 4). Theta brain waves are seen in light sleep and drowsiness (sleep stages 1 and 2). Alpha brain waves are seen in wakefulness where there is a relaxed and effortless alertness. Beta brain waves are seen in highly stressful situations, and where there is difficult mental concentration and focus.
Delta waves are the slowest oscillating brain waves (0-4 cycles per second). Theta waves oscillate somewhat faster (4-7 cycles per second). Alpha waves oscillate 8-13 times per second. Beta waves oscillate still faster (13-40 cycles per second). There are many other kinds of electrical activity in the brain, especially the short-lived evoked potentials that occur when the brain responds to sensory input (like a sound, or a touch, or a flash of light). However, the four basic EEG brain waves; Delta waves,Theta waves, Alpha waves, and Beta waves constitute the standard lineup of EEG brainwave activity.

What are Alpha Brain Waves Good For?

The foregoing discussion makes the point that each of the four basic EEG brain wavesis linked to a different state of consciousness. Each of the four types of brain waves(Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta) is good for something different. However, we can get into trouble if we can not turn on the type of brain wave needed for the task at hand. For example, if we can not turn on Theta brain waves and Delta brain waves, we will suffer from insomnia, among other things. On the other hand, people who can turn on the ideal brain waves to deal with each and every situation are considered gifted.

One useful metaphor compares the four basic brain waves (Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta) with the four gears on a car. Delta brain waves (the slowest waves) are first gear.Theta brain waves are second gear. Alpha brain waves are third gear. Beta brain waves are fourth gear. No one gear is best for every driving situation, and no onebrain wave is best for all of the challenges of life. We get into trouble if one of the gears on our car goes out, or if we forget to use some of the gears. For example if we drive our car starting in first gear, and then shifting directly into fourth gear (skipping second and third), we will have low gas mileage and high repair bills. The same is true of our brains. Sadly, many people often skip their second and third brain gears (Theta and Alpha brain waves). The consequences of driving our brains in this manner are low productivity and high medical bills. How does this happen?

The way this occurs in everyday life can be illustrated by an example. People often wake up suddenly out of a deep sleep (Delta brain waves) with an alarm. Then they immediately feel stress and anxiety (Beta brain waves) about being late or being under time pressure. After insufficient sleep they pour caffeine down their throats to force themselves into (Beta brain waves) wakefulness, and the caffeine suppresses Thetaand Alpha brain waves, while promoting Beta brain waves. All day they work under stress, pressure, and time urgency (Beta, Beta, and more Beta), until at night, they fall exhausted into deep sleep (Delta brain waves), having spent too little time unwinding, relaxing, and drowsing (which would have given them a bit more Theta andAlpha brain waves). Thus many people shift their brains suddenly and forcefully fromDelta to Beta, and then back to Delta.

Alpha brain wave production is an innate skill of our brains, but one consequence of the modern stressful lifestyle is that we forget how to produce Theta and Alpha brain waves. Then we easily fall victim to anxiety and stress-related diseases. Anxiety and stress measurably reduce the strength of our immune systems. People who have moreAlpha brain waves have less anxiety. Thus having more Alpha waves could mean less anxiety and, correspondingly, stronger immune systems, and this is good for everyone.

Creativity is another activity for which Alpha brain waves are helpful. Scientists have shown that highly creative people have different brain waves from normal and non-creative people. In order to have a creative inspiration, your brain needs to be able to generate a big burst of Alpha brain waves, mostly on the left side of the brain. The brains of creative people can generate these big Alpha brain wave bursts, and do so when they are faced with problems to solve. Normal and non-creative people do not produce Alpha brainwave increases when they are faced with problems, and so they can not come up with creative ideas and solutions. Any time you have an insight or an inspiration, you know your brain just produced more Alpha waves than usual.Increased creativity is helpful for everyone. One way to increase creativity is to increase Alpha brain waves.

Peak performance is another activity for which Alpha brain waves are helpful. Recently sports scientists have shown that increases of Alpha brain waves (often in the left side of the brain) precede peak performance. One key difference between novice and elite athletes is in their brain waves. Just before their best free throws, an elite basketball player will produce a burst of Alpha waves on the left side of their brain. Just before their best strokes, elite golfers will produce a burst of Alpha waves in their left brain. Just before their best shots, elite marksmen and archers will produce a burst of Alpha waves in their left brains. Novice and intermediate athletes do not show thisAlpha brain wave pattern. However, one study of archers training over many weeks, showed that as they improved their performance, they gradually increased the amount of left brain Alpha waves which occurred just before their best shots. The Alpha brain waves seemed to be essential for peak performance and were increased, albeit slowly, by the archery training.

What Do Alpha Brain Waves Mean to Me?

If you want to feel less stress and anxiety, you should increase the amount of your Alpha brain waves. This may also improve the strength of your immune system, since stress weakens the immune system. If you want to be more creative, you should learn how to increase the amount of your Alpha brain waves. If you want to have more peak performance in athletic activity, and in other areas of your life, you should learn how to increase the amount of your Alpha brain waves.

    Negative Ions

on Tuesday, 23 October 2012. Posted in Health & Wellbeing

    What are they?

Negative ions occur naturally in the air and are produced by lightning, ocean surf and waterfalls. There are also electrical devices called 'air ionizers' that produce negative air ions. Such air ionizers have been used in the treatment of seasonal winter depression (SAD).

Technically, negative ions are atoms or molecules of oxygen (or carbon dioxide) in the air that have gained an electron.

'Negatively charged molecules of air, or negative ions, promote a sense of well-being for people.'
Charles Wallach, Consultant to the FDA

"Remember that feeling you've experienced near a waterfall or high in the mountains? Those are two places that thousands of negative ions occur. They create an effect on human biochemistry."
From the magazine Whole Self, Spring 1991, in article entitled "Ions and Consciousness".

    Health Benefits of Negative Ions

The astounding degree to which negative ions can contribute to good health is becoming increasingly apparent, as extensive research on the subject suggests.

Negative ions are in the air that we breathe as well as in our bodies. They neutralize free radicals, revitalize cell metabolism and enhance immune function. In addition, they purify the blood and balance the autonomic nervous system, promoting deep sleep and healthy digestion. Negative ions also protect the body and mind from the harmful effects of environmental stressors such as electromagnetic fields. See below for more on the amazing healing properties of negative ions.

In order to ensure our health and well being, it is crucial that we surround ourselves with a sufficient amount of negative ions. In addition to wearing Ionic Balance Bracelets, which produce negative ions and may elevate their levels in our bodies, eating clean, healthy, alkaline-producing foods can also increase our negative ion levels.

    What are Ions?

Ancient peoples recognized that the air is "electric," so to speak, but it is thought that the formal study of ions did not begin until fairly recently. In 1899, two German scientists, Elster and Geitel, discovered that there are particles in the atmosphere that carry electricity. These particles were later named "air ions" by the British scientist Faraday. The word "ion" was taken from the Greek language, in which it means to "go" or "wander about."

Ions are invisible particles, either molecules or atoms, which bear an electric charge. Atoms, for instance, consist of an atomic nucleus that contains neutral neutrons and positively charged protons, as well as orbiting electrons that are negatively charged. When an atom is in a neutral condition, the number of protons (+) and electrons (-) is equal. When the number of protons and electrons is not the same, the particle becomes an ion that is either positively or negatively charged. Generally speaking, positive ions are harmful to the human body, while negative ions are beneficial.

    positive ion

Positive Ion: an atom (or molecule) that has lost one or more electrons due to a high-energy impact. Natural forces that generate positive ions include the decay of radioactive minerals, radon gas, forest fires, lightning and ultraviolet rays.

    negative ion

Negative Ion: an atom (or molecule) that has gained one or more extra negatively charged electrons. Negative ions are naturally generated by evaporating water.

Electrons are highly sensitive to shock, impact, electric current and atmospheric change. Air pressure or heat, for instance, can cause electrons to escape from atoms and dissipate, increasing the number of positive ions in the air.

As mentioned above, the balance of negative and positive ions in the air is easily disturbed. A good example of this can be seen in the changes in ion levels associated with storm activity. Several hours before a thunderstorm, for instance, low atmospheric pressure causes the number of positive ions in the air to increase dramatically, to levels that sometimes exceed 5000 ions per cm³. In contrast, during a storm, negative ions increase to several thousand per cm³ while positive ions decrease, often to below 500 per cm³. (You can detect similarly high negative ion concentrations near waterfalls - see the chart below.)

In our daily lives, as well, we can directly experience the electricity of ions in the air in the form of static electricity - especially in winter, when the air is dry. Static is caused by a high ratio of positive to negative ions because of a lack of moisture in the air.

    Top

The Ratio of Negative to Positive Ions is Crucial to Health

The ratio of negative to positive ions is crucial, because negative ions are able to neutralize the harmful effects of positive ions. At the beginning of the 20th century, the ratio in the atmosphere was 1.2 negative ions for every positive ion. However, in recent years, the ratio has reversed and now there are 1.2 positive ions for every negative ion. This is due to environmental hazards such as air and water pollution, electromagnetic fields, and other factors.

Positive and negative ions also exist in our bodies, and the ratio of ions in the air we breathe influences the ratio in our bodies. Ions enter the body through the lungs (inhalation) as well as through the skin - especially through meridian (acupressure) points, which have weak electronic resistance. Then they travel through the blood and lymphatic systems to cells throughout the body. Wearing an Ionic Balance Bracelet may increase the number of negative ions absorbed through the skin.

Negative and Positive Ion Levels Measured in Various Locations

    Negative Ions Positive Ions
    Offices 70 1,400
    Industrial Areas 50 300
    Shopping Arcades 220 280
    Residential Areas 200 180
    Forests 2,500 800
    Kowakidani Hot Spring 2,500 820
    Near Minoh Waterfall 5,000 300

(These measurements were taken in Japan)

In some offices with computer stations, no negative ions were detected at all! Inside typical Tokyo residences, positive ions were found to be 500 times more numerous than negative ions. These findings may be due to inadequate ventilation both in office buildings and energy - efficient houses, as well as from the use of electronic devices that generate electromagnetic fields and from building materials that emit formaldehyde and other toxic fumes. On the other hand, high negative ion levels, such as at waterfalls, hot springs and other highly moist areas, will neutralize positive ions, leading to very low positive ion levels.

In any case, these measurements suggest that it is difficult to maintain sufficient levels of negative ions in the present age.

How Positive and Negative Ions Affect Our Bodies

    Harmful Effects of Positive Ions

Ions were first linked to human health by a Japanese medical study in 1910, which showed that patients with arthritis experienced greater pain when weather fluctuations elevated the percentage of positive ions in the atmosphere. As a result of this and other research, in Japan the close relationship between ions and health has long been widely recognized.

Cold fronts and low pressure systems increase the percentage of positive ions in the atmosphere, leading to a decrease in the number of negative ions in our bodies. Doctors in Japan report that under such conditions, the symptoms of their asthma and arthritis patients are aggravated, and the number of strokes increases.

In North America, the relationship between positive ions and asthma has also been studied. Positive ion winds (in which there are extremely high concentrations of positive ions) in Calgary, Alberta, southern California, and other places around the world have been found to coincide with increased incidence of asthma attacks (Guy Cramer, "Advanced Research on Atmospheric Ions and Respiratory Problems", Certified Medinex Website, Sept. 2, 1996, http://mypage.direct.ca/g/gcramer/asthma.html).

Moreover, in recent years a number of doctors in Japan report that high levels of positive ions in the immediate environment - due to electromagnetic fields generated from computers, cell phones and other electronic devices - can both impair brain function and suppress the immune system, leading to a host of ailments. Symptoms include headache, lack of energy, fatigue, anxiety, irritability, nausea, stomachache, breathing difficulty, vertigo (dizziness), poor concentration and mental performance, and sleep disturbance. When blood or urine samples from individuals reporting such symptoms are analyzed, extremely high levels of the stress hormone serotonin are detected. This hormone is known to be potentially harmful to the body at high levels, and it is thought that positive ions may work to increase serum serotonin. (Negative ions, on the other hand, cause the body to convert excess serotonin into a harmless compound).

Positive ions turn into free radicals in the body, oxidizing cells throughout the entire system. They damage healthy cells and increase the acidity of the blood. When cells are oxidized, lactic acid levels rise drastically, resulting in a variety of maladies, including cancer. The balance of the endocrine, immune, and autonomic nervous systems is thrown off, and blood and lymph circulation declines. As a result, aging processes accelerate, and premature aging occurs.

The following are human-made environmental factors that increase positive ion levels; each hazard is either new to the last century, or has magnified significantly during that time.

Human-Made Hazards that Increase Positive Ion Levels

    1. Exhaust fumes - the major environmental cause
    2. Factory smoke
    3. River pollution and acidic rain
    4. Dioxin produced from the burning of waste materials
    5. Pesticides and food additives
    6. Formaldehyde
    7. Phosphorus compounds used in everyday products
    8. Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) generated by X-rays, electric appliances, computers and other electronic devices, power lines, etc.

    Negative Ions Neutralize Free Radicals

It is said that 2% of the oxygen we breathe turns into free radicals in our bodies. When these free radicals combine with free radicals produced by other sources (such as heavy metals, chemicals, bacteria, viruses, and positive ions), they become even more harmful. Negative ions work to prevent oxidation by neutralizing the free radicals in our cells. As a result, cells are revitalized, and immunity and resistance are strengthened. Negative ions also work to balance the autonomic nervous system and improve gastrointestinal function. They can relax the mind and body, promote deep sleep, increase metabolism, stabilize appetite and blood pressure, enhance recovery from physical exhaustion, and help one feel refreshed and invigorated. Negative ions are essential to overall health. Below is a summary of the healing properties of negative ions.

    Healing Properties of Negative Ions

Recovery from physical exhaustion or fatigue - by increasing oxygen levels in the blood and facilitating more efficient oxygen utilization, negative ions help accelerate recovery from fatigue.

Stabilizing brain function - by promoting abundant oxygen levels in the blood, negative ions help normalize brain function, resulting in relaxation and calmness.

Blood purification - by increasing the levels of calcium and sodium in the blood stream, negative ions help restore a healthy (slightly alkaline) pH balance to the blood.

Increasing metabolism - by stimulating the exchange of electronic substances in cell walls, negative ions help increase metabolism.

Strengthening the immune system - high levels of negative ions promote production of globulin in the blood, resulting in stronger resistance to illness.

Balancing the autonomic nervous system - negative ions can calm and relax taut nerves by balancing the opposing sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the autonomic nervous system.

Promoting better digestion - by counteracting over-arousal of the sympathetic nervous system, negative ions help ease tension in the stomach and intestines, promoting the production of digestive enzymes and enhancing digestion.

Cell rejuvenation - negative ions help revitalize cell metabolism, enhancing the vitality of muscle tissue and strengthening internal organs.

For overall health - negative ions can rejuvenate and revitalize all of the body's systems and cells, promoting a stronger overall constitution.

Researching the Effects of Negative Ions

    Studies Conducted in Japan

Many doctors and researchers in Japan have been studying the effects of negative ions. According to them, an insufficient number of negative ions in our environment results in suppressed immune, nervous, and digestive function, eventually leading to a variety of illnesses. Some doctors in Japan even treat their patients using a medical device that produces natural (not artificially produced) negative ions, with successful results. Below are some of the research results on the effects of negative ions.

In 1975, Nanzandoh Medical Clinic in Japan published some astonishing results from their research on negative ion therapy, finding it effective in the treatment of high blood pressure, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, tinnitus (ringing of the ears), as well as for various disorders of the nervous, respiratory, and digestive systems, thyroid gland, and skin. It was also found to speed recovery from illness and slow aging processes.

A clinic near Ueyamada Hot Spring in Shinshu, Japan, treated Alzheimer's patients with negative ion therapy, and more than half were cured of the disease, recovering on their own with no further treatment! Following this, a medical team at Shinshu University also found that negative ions work to heal damaged cells in mice.

Dr. Tomoh Tsubushi, a medical professor at Tokyo Metropolitan University and sports medicine specialist, has closely followed negative ion research. In 1997, he concluded from his own studies that when negative ion therapy was applied after exercise, it quickly normalized blood pressure, reduced serum serotonin levels, and accelerated recovery time from exhaustion. In 2000, his paper on the beneficial effects of negative ions on the human body was published in Shuki no Kenkyu, a Japanese scientific journal.

According to research conducted by Shiseido, the world renowned Japanese cosmetics company, inhaling air containing 3,200 positive ions per cubic centimeter for 20 minutes resulted in thirst, loss of voice, and nasal congestion due to elevated serum serotonin levels. In contrast, inhaling negative ions for 10 minutes stabilized brain waves, resulting in a sense of calmness. In the group that inhaled negative ions, hardly any serotonin was detected in blood or urine samples. (Negative ions cause the body to convert excess serotonin - the antagonist for most of the problems - into a harmless chemical compound).

Studies Conducted in the U.S. and Other Counties

The following is excerpted from an article by Guy Cramer, entitled "Advanced Research on Atmospheric Ions and Respiratory Problems" (Certified Medinex Website, Sept. 2, 1996, http://mypage.direct.ca/g/gcramer/asthma.html):

"A doctor treating burn victims with negative ion generators found that those patients who also had respiratory problems - chronic bronchitis or asthma - all reported that negative ion therapy helped them breathe more easily. With these findings the doctor started research into the effects of ions on respiratory ills. This research was carried out at the Northeastern Hospital, at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate Hospital, and the Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia. He found 63% of patients suffering from hay fever or bronchial asthma 'have experienced partial or total relief' because of negative ion therapy. One hospital doctor who worked on the project said later, 'They come in sneezing, eyes watering, nose itching, worn out from lack of sleep, so miserable they can hardly walk. Fifteen minutes in front of the negative ion machine and they feel so much better they don't even want to leave.'"

"The U.S. experimenters Windsor and Becket gave sixteen volunteers overdoses of positive ions for just 20 minutes at a time and all of them developed dry throats, husky voices, headaches, and itchy or obstructed noses. Five of the volunteers were tested for total breathing capacity, and it was found that a positive ion overdose reduced that capacity by 30 percent. Exposed to negative ions for ten minutes, the volunteers' maximum breathing capacity was unaffected. What is significant here is that negative ions did not affect the amount of air breathed, but positive ions made breathing more difficult."

"In Britain, two Oxford University statisticians conducted a study among 100 victims of asthma, bronchitis, and hay fever chosen at random from a list of people who had purchased negative ion generators in the hope that it would help their problems. In the end their report was based on interviews with only 74 of the 100. They found that 18 of 24 asthmatics; 13 of 17 bronchitis sufferers; 11 of 12 hay fever victims; and 6 of 10 people afflicted with nasal catarrh reported that negative ion generators had noticeably improved their condition. A few claimed the generator had cured them."

"Brazilian Hospitals have commonly used ionizing devices for the treatment of breathing problems, including allergies, following a test involving 36 children with asthmatic allergies. All of them had consistent and in some cases crippling problems before taking negative ion therapy; during the treatment only one of them suffered an allergy attack and afterward all were reportedly cured, at least to the point that they no longer suffered problems so long as they took part in occasional negative ion therapy sessions."

"In 1966 at a hospital in Jerusalem, doctors performed a series of tests on 38 infants between two and twelve months old. All suffered to about the same degree from respiratory problems. They were divided into two groups of nineteen, one kept as a control group in a ward without any ion charge and the other where a negative ion generator was in use."

"The researchers reported that negative ions without any other treatment - that is, no drugs - seemed to cure attacks of asthma and bronchitis more quickly than drugs, antibiotics included. They also observed that there were none of the 'adverse side effects' frequently found when treating such children with drugs. They concluded that the children treated with negative ions were less prone to 'rebound attacks' (relapses). As to objectivity, the scientific report said that the tests 'demonstrated that the atmospheric ions have an effect on infants, especially those suffering from asthmatic bronchitis.' Less scientifically, they found that babies didn't cry as often and as loudly when they were breathing negative ions as they did in normal air. And there is nothing subjective about a bawling baby."

    I am Ionic Woman

Written by Cat Thomson on Saturday, 03 September 2011. Posted in Health & Wellbeing

So, if you have been following along with me over the past few months, you will remember my love off Ionic Balance Bands, if you havent read my posts just click on the link here to read them, (psst, these are my PERSONAL views on the bands).

I have absolute belief that this band is helping me, with my Lupus, I know, there will be sceptics out there, and that is ok.  I am not going to argue/debate about this because it is my belief and no-one is going to convince me I am wrong.  I am not going to convince paranormal fanatics that ghosts don’t exist.  Many many patients who suffer from an illness will try various alternative therapies, for me, I chose and have faith in the Ionic Band.

The band has not cured my illness, which includes chronic pain and fatigue.  It has however, made the pain more bearable to live with.  Strangely, it seemed to affect one side of my body.  I wear the band on my right hand, and I noticed that the right side felt considerable better than my left side.

Recently, I was contacted by the Company Director of Ionic Balance Band who wanted me to try wearing another band.  I received the band from a friend who retails them that day.  Around about day 10 of wearing the second band (which I wear on my left wrist, amazingly!! :D ) I have noticed a considerable difference in my pain.  I did suffer one side effect from wearing 2 bands, but I persevered with it…I suffered some dizziness, which resulted in some nausea, this lasted 3 days, after which time I noticed the left side of my body feel much better, much more subtle and most importantly, less pain.

last week, I took both my bands off, as I was attending a family wedding, I opted to wear a magnetic bracelet which is designed to look like costume jewelry with a bit of bling.  By the time I got home at ‘ridiculous o’clock’  I was crippled in pain, maybe because I was drinking a lot of wine/champagne/Morgans! and dancing to the ceilidh band…Hey, I am from West Scotland, it’s the law to have copious amounts of alcohol and dance jigs!! ;)

The next morning I put my bands straight back on, it took around 4 days before the pain subsided,  in fact, yesterday was when I felt ‘normal’ again I could not do my kickboxing classes as I was so sore and stiff, when I am in bad pain, my fingers will lock kind of giving them a webbed look.

But for the first time, in around 4 months, both sides of my body feel great now, I will say I have started medication now, but have been told it will take at least 12wks before I will notice any effect.  I am on wk 3 with the meds.  Yes I still get sore, but as I have said, and Ionic Balance Bands have claimed, these wont cure me, but my pain is definitely more bearable.

I am, now, Ionic Woman!!  I really have nothing bad to say about these bands, for me, they have given me back my life.

    Ionic that I’m a believer?

Written by Cat Thomson on Wednesday, 13 July 2011. Posted in Health & Wellbeing

I am going to preface this post by stating that I am no scientist, I don’t understand atoms, modules or whatever, even those science models with the sticks and balls on it, to me, they just look like someone failed badly making a homemade abacus!

However, my post Isn’t It Ionic, stirred up a bit of controversy, particularly with one commenter who is a sceptic, and you know, that is ok, I am not here to bash you John, but I wanted to start a whole new post for the potential sceptics.  The world would be a boring place if we all believed in the same thing….just sayin!

Some people who are non-believers, want solid concrete proof that tourmaline (which is the substance used in the Ionic-Band) does in fact have health benefits.  I can’t give you that proof.  All I can say is from my point of view, someone who has suffered with chronic pain for 2yrs, who only recently was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease known better as Rheumatoid Arthritis, who is now facing the rest of her life living with a potentially debilitating illness rattling with various painkillers and drugs.  Who is still very young herself and has very young active children, and I have absolutely no choice but to smile…or, as the saying goes ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ but inside I am in sheer agony and all I want to do is just sleep the day away but for my kids sake, I can’t.  I don’t want to, for as long as I possibly can, want my kids memories riddled with a crippled mother.

I hate despise taking medication. I don’t even like taking vitamins! But from hereon in, I have no choices, I need medications, painkillers, anti-inflammatories

I have often sat at night, literally in tears, wondering why I have been struck down with this, I don’t (now) smoke, I very rarely drink, I run, kickbox, swim, in between making it to the gym for core strengthening workouts.

But in all this, NO DOCTOR, NO SCIENTIST, NO EXPERT can tell me why, why people suddenly for no reason have their immune system attack them.  Science does not have an answer as to why certain illnesses hit people.  But, we, as the suffers have to take it as gospel? But if  science does not have an answer as to why various non medicated drugs/gadgets work, we are not allowed to believe in them, instead its placebo? (reader, imagine me right now shrugging my shoulders in *disbelief* as that is what I am doing!)

I had Bells Palsy earlier this year, again, there is no clear reason as to why I got that illness, it happened, the proof was there to see.  You can see my videos if you want.  I saw 3 different doctors when I had that episode, not one could tell me why Bells Palsy hit, they could only guess!

My other point, non medical is this.  There are millions of people in this world that follow Christianity (for example) they believe in God, they pray, they study bibles, they preach the word, but there is no concrete evidence that God actually exists, but still people choose to belive.

Not long ago, in fact May 21st this year, people believed that the world was going to end.  I made light of the fact many times on my Facebook, looking forward to rapture as I was planning a big looting of  gadgets and hopefully, finally get my mac airbook!  Joking aside, my point is people believed it.

There is no concrete evidence that ghosts exists, but again, thousands of people in this world choose to believe and some, even stated that they themselves have seen ghosts.  But because a ‘sceptic’ has not seen it with their own eyes, they make their own choice to scoff at the believer, demanding evidence.

Overdue, pregnant mothers, for years, believe that drinking raspberry leaf tea would induce labour (I was one of them!) again, no scientific proof that it does in fact do so, but many women swear by it.  For me, it did nothing, except make me pee!

For years, people have used herbs to heal ailments, long before conventional doctors where around, long before penicillin was ever invented, people used what earth has given us, instead of chemical infused drugs.  Tourmaline is also what the earth has given us and has been used for centuries, back then people believed in its healing properties.

My point in this post is that we will always have a world of believers and sceptics and its ok, its ok to bring up a healthy debate if you are passionate about something, however I wont stand for being put down.  For my belief is that as a sufferer of chronic pain, placebo or not, my aches and pains have improved significantly since wearing the band, and I will stand by and support this, and unless you are not even prepared to try it, then frankly you can not tell me I am wrong.

Make of it as you will, and I will make of it as I will :)

    The End!

    Isn't it Ionic!

Written by Cat Thomson on Saturday, 09 July 2011. Posted in Health & Wellbeing

I wanted to post yesterday, but didn’t get round to it.  My husbando was invited to the Golf Scottish Open, hospitality, need I say more…..caranage.

So I had to entertain my kiddies myself, they both do Taekwondo and thankfully, their Instructor is running a summer camp for the first two weeks of the summer holidays.  All hail Mr Mair!

Anyway, I wanted to talk to you about these babies!!

    Ionic Balance Band

Readers, seriously, these babies, are my new best friends! They are called Ionic Balance Bands and I think everyone in the entire world should be wearing one, like we are all from some kind of sci-fi movie, without Ewen MacGregor in it *sigh*

I noticed nearly every second person in my hometown wearing one of these bands, and at first I thought they were just another fashion fad.  Even one of my friends little 8yr old girl had one on and she told me it gave her energy, but frankly, that child has bundles of energy anyway and I kind of smiled and said ‘Oh yeah?’

On Monday evening, I was at my kids Taekwondo class, and I noticed a friend wearing one of these bands and I just asked her why were all these people wearing these bands, what the heck is it about.

She told me she got the band a couple of weeks ago and that since wearing it she has been sleeping better, how on earth can a band help you sleep!?!?

She proceeded to tell me that the band contains a mineral of sorts in the band, she didn’t understand how it works, but she notices a huge difference in her everyday living, she suggested I googled it.

I did, and reader, I really really suggest you have a look at the website too.

I suffer from insomnia, I am really lucky if I get 5hrs solid sleep, that’s on a good night, I go to bed exhausted every.single.night, but as soon as my head hits the pillow its like my brain is on 100 miles an hour and the off switch doesn’t work.  So if a bracelet was going to help me sleep, then why not!

When I saw what the band claims to offer, particularly what it could offer me….Faster recovery (my fractured ankle) Improved mood, reduce fatigue, deeper sleep, and most importantly Enhanced Immune Function, all these symptoms are linked to my Rheumatoid Arthritis, which is of course is an Autoimmune disease.  So, if this was claiming to aid the Immune Function then dammit, I want a piece of  it.

looking more into the site and the company Facebook page I discovered so much praise and claims for this little wonder, that I needed to get one more and more.

The next morning I dropped the kids of at their summer camp and I legged it across town to a retailer I know personally.  I got myself a small band, a nice girly cream one with purple writing.

My girly band, not the best pic, taken from my Iphone!

It was put on my arm immediately.  Keith, who sold me the band (Who is also a personally friend) wears a black one himself, he said that he noticed a big difference in his sleep around 2wks after he wore it.  You don’t take the band off EVER!  You wear it in the shower, bath, whatever you are doing wear your band.  For whatever reason you can’t wear your band, eg,  for work purposes, you can have it in your pocket, as long as it’s no more than an inch from your skin :)

I went merrily on my way.

The next morning, for the first time in 3wks, I woke up feeling fresh, the  main difference was the fact when I rose from my bed my joints were moving freely.  I still had discomfort, but definitely not the chronic pain I had been experiencing for 3 wks solid.

The proof  would be in the pudding, I know from experience my chronic pain would hit around 7pm when I get a chance to sit down after my busy day. I sat down with a cup of tea and watched my usual suspects, Emmerdale, Coronation Street and then Eastenders.

I realised at 8pm ish that I had NO PAIN! Discomfort absolutely but it was bearable.

The next morning I was the same, I had discomfort again, but no pain, I actually have reduced my pain killers, which was playing havoc with my stomach, I was and still am amazed at this little band. So much so I left a comment on the Ionic-Balance Facebook Page

It was only when I looked further into the Facebook page, I discovered that this product is actually a local based company.  Which explained why every second person I know is wearing the band.

I really wanted to do a review on the band, as I said, I personally think everyone should be wearing one, (If you have access to the Scottish Open you will notice there are a few golfers wearing the band) not only has it helped alivate the chronic pain I have been experiencing, I have noticed a difference with my kickboxing.  Within 48hrs of wearing my band there is more strength in my kicks and punches, and for the first time in a long time I have raised the height of my kicks.

I needed to review this product, so I contacted the company to ask if I could borrow the image (of the stacked bands) and other images they have.

Calum, the owner, contacted me right away and gave me permission, he also wanted to contact me personally.

He called me straight away and I praised his band no end, reader, it is so hard to explain what it can do for you, you don’t feel zaps of energy going through you and it’s not all ‘voodoo’ But your overall feeling, your energy and your state of mind does improve.  I guess you need to wear it to believe it, seriously.

Calum explained to me about the gemstone which is in the band, its called tourmaline. Tourmaline is also known as ‘Electric Stone’ it produces Negative Ions, you can read more about Negative Ions on the Ionic Balance Site.  Calum explained it as ‘Winds of Change’ the band is charged by daylight, and cleansed by moonlight.

What I am amazed at is Calum came up with the idea in December, I had to query that, December just past? Yes, he said, December 2010, he then said as soon as he got the idea, he started researching it, and on March this year he went live with his product.  In the space of 4 months, we have well known sport celebrities wearing the band and over 13,000 likes on the Facebook page, that reader, speaks volumes!!

I am in No Way affiliated to Ionic-Balance, I am just a consumer that was, and still is, impressed by this band. And I have been recommending it to everyone I know, whether you have health issues or not (my husband got one too, in black, and he is healthy!).  Calum has told me that he will ship worldwide with free shipping! He has so much faith (as have I) he has a 14 day money back guarantee on his product.  I really think you must have a look at the shop, there is a colour for everyone :)

I will definitely keep you updated with my progress, I am seeing my Rhuematologist on August 10th and will be keen to share my experiences with him, and, if you do get a band, let me (and Calum, you can contact him both on Facebook and his site) know how you get on with it, I would love to hear your experiences too!

    Happy Banding :)

Thank you to Calum from Ionic-Balance.com for the use of his image
